Acura MSR Returns to Victory Lane in Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen

With Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun commanding the wheel, Acura Meyer Shank Racing (Acura MSR) won Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen in a thrilling fashion. The team pulled off a late-race victory in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season for the second time in a row. In fact, Blomqvist didn't capture the lead until the final lap after the two cars ahead of him were forced to pit for refueling. You could feel the tension in the air as the cars furiously battled for the top spot. During early June, the team also took home the checkered flag at the Detroit Grand Prix in the late stages.

The race conditions at the track certainly were not ideal during the early stages. Heavy rain had created slick conditions. This inclement weather episode led to multiple incidents, which caused a series of safety car periods. Even worse, the Acura #60 ARX-06 was dealing with a malfunctioning windshield wiper. Not only did Colin Braun have to look more out of the side windows, but he also had to rely on spotters to guide him along the course.

Acura's team was one of the first to switch to slick tires as the weather began to dry. This clever strategy ultimately helped Acura maintain a competitive position during the race's first half. Once Colin Braun took over for the second stage, the environment had changed from damp to scorching hot. He would then steadily progress through the field before reaching the top three. On the final lap, Braun had just enough fuel to finish.

After scoring pole position for this victory, Acura MSR hopes to see continued success. According to Blomqvist, they're getting better and better every race.
