Specs at a Glance

The sleek, stylish Acura MDX is a family favorite. It provides a cozy, high-tech travel experience that creates some of life's best memories. Both the Technology and Advance trims are excellent choices, but it's important to research the differences before choosing the proper trim.

Performance

The Technology and Advance trims both have a 3.5L engine rated at 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. Each trim also sports a 10-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift paddle shifters. The Advance package has a greater max towing capacity, up to 5,000 pounds, which gives drivers a bit more to work with than the Technology's 3,500-pound towing capacity.

Appearance

The Technology and Advance packages share some common features: Chicane LED daytime running lights, Jewel Eye LED headlamps, and power-folding heated side mirrors. The exterior accents will differ a bit, though. For example, only the Advance trim comes with LED outer door handle lights. The interiors of both models differ as well. For example, the Technology boasts Sport seats with perforated Milano premium leather-trimmed seats, and the Advance comes with sport seats with Curvilinear quilted and perforated Milano premium leather seats.

Features

Interior and driver-assist features are very different in these two trims. The Technology package features the same Bang & Olufsen premium sound system as the Advance trim, but it doesn't have 3rd row charging ports and a 10.5-inch head-up display like the Advance does. The Advance package also adds features like a surround-view camera system and low-speed brake control, two convenient features that appeal to drivers who want extra driver-assist features. There's a lot of power inside an Acura MDX, so many people opt for the Advance package. For those who feel more comfortable and want to splurge in other areas, the Technology might be more practical.
