Specs at a Glance
Both the 2026 Acura MDX and the 2026 RDX are great choices if you're looking for a luxury SUV that offers curb appeal, a tech-savvy cabin, performance, and a smooth ride quality. However, there are some differences between the two popular Acura models to consider as you decide which SUV best suits your needs, budget, and lifestyle. Here's how the two vehicles compare.
Performance
Several engines are available with the 2026 MDX. The base engine is a 3.5L V6 engine that delivers 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. You can also get a turbo 3.0L, starting with the Type S trim, which generates up to 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Regardless of the mechanical configuration you choose, the MDX has an automatic 10-speed transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on the base models, but all-wheel drive is standard starting with the A-Spec.
The RDX has one standard mechanical configuration across the lineup. The RDX is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that produces 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The RDX also has a standard automatic 10-speed transmission, but it has standard all-wheel drive across the lineup.
Appearance
The MDX has a snazzy, upscale exterior with a standard power liftgate and panoramic sunroof. Wheels start at 19 inches on the base trim but progress up to 21 inches at the top trim level. LED headlights, fog lights, and power-folding side mirrors are included on some trims, too. The Type S Advance, which tops the line, features unique trim styling and Brembo brakes.
The RDX comes standard with a panoramic sunroof. The base trim comes with 19-inch black wheels, but you can upgrade to 20-inch wheels with the A-Spec trim. The top Advance and A-Spec Advance trims have exclusive wheel designs.
Inside, the MDX has standard heated front seats and reclining and folding second-row seats. Ambient interior lighting, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, and wood trim accents are luxury features on the higher-end trims.
The RDX has standard synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control. Leather seats, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats are available on higher-end trim levels.
Features
Standard technology with the MDX includes wireless Android Auto® and Apple CarPlay®, Google and Alexa, a wireless charging pad, USB ports, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
The RDX features a 10.2-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch digital instrument panel, and wireless Android Auto® and Apple CarPlay®.
