What's New for the 2018 Acura RLX?

The new version of the Acura RLX features Acura's well-known diamond pentagon grille on this Precision Crafted Performance luxury sport sedan. You'll also find a new wheel design along with new LED tail lights that are added to the return of the dual exhaust finishers as well as a gloss black rear diffuser. The 2018 RLX is also being offered in three new exterior color choices that include Majestic Black Pearl and Brilliant Red Metallic. A 10 speed automatic transmission is also new to the 2018 Acura RLX which comes with a 310 horsepower engine and Precision All-Wheel Steer. Cabin changes enhance the interior of the vehicle with high contrast stitching found on the newly designed seats, the use of upgraded materials throughout, and Espresso added to the list of interior color options.

Trims & Features

The new RLX comes in two trim packages. This includes the Sport Hybrid Tech Sedan and the Sport Hybrid Elite Sedan. Standard features in the Sport Hybrid Tech Sedan trim package include a 14 speaker stereo, head-up display, remote engine start, power folding side mirrors, LED fog lights, a heated steering wheel, and heated rear seats. Drivers that upgrade to the Elite package will also be able to enjoy a better sound system, a 360° exterior camera, a power rear sunshade, and ventilated front seats along with several other upscale features. The RLX is a strong performer due to a high-tech powertrain, and it provides luxury features that are being offered at an affordable price for a luxury sport sedan.

Horsepower

Just as with the 2017s, the new RLX includes a hybrid powertrain that combines a 3.5 L V6 with a set of three electric motors capable of producing 377 horsepower and 341 pound to foot torque. These same electric motors provide the all-wheel drive traction. Each one of the rear wheels has its very own motor. This is all part of the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive System that varies the torque distribution in order to improve high speed handling. This all-wheel drive set-up closely matches that of the NSX sports car. In addition, this hybrid setup pays off when you are considering the RLX in terms of economy with 20 miles per gallon in the city and 29 on the highway.

Safety

2018 Acura RLX Top ViewThe Acura RLX once again comes standard with the Acura Watch features that provide drivers safety assistance. Along with the safety features found on the 2017 RLX, you'll discover Traffic Jam Assist that works along with the Adaptive Cruise Control and the Low Speed Follow in order to greatly ease the stress of driving during rush hour. The RLX is equipped with five airbags. This includes passenger and driver airbags, front head airbags, rear head airbags, and front side airbags. Additional safety features like 4-Wheel ABS, 4-Wheel Disc Brakes, brake assist, traction control, and electronic stability control further aid the driver while daytime running lights and integrated turn signal mirrors keep this sedan visible to others. Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Cross-Traffic Alert, and Blind Spot Monitoring help drivers stay on course, and child safety locks keep your family safe.
