What is the best method for Acura to make the new Integra better? They gave it a stronger chassis, better tires, and greater power. We are therefore happy that the Type S, Integra's impending performance model, will have several handling improvements and a powertrain sourced from the new Honda Civic Type R. At Honda's test facilities in Tochigi, Japan, we drove a Type S prototype. The new model is expected to debut this summer and should provide the over-40 demographic with an alternative to the boisterous Type R.

The new Acura Integra Type S sedan's engine has a distinctly familiar sound. The Honda Civic Type R uses the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with VTEC technology. We don't yet know if it will match or possibly surpass the Type R's proven 315 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque because Acura has only stated that it would make more than 300 horsepower.

These would comprise, among other things, low-speed automated braking, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control (yep, even with the manual), lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot detection, and forward collision avoidance.
