Specs at a Glance
The 2022 Acura MDX is an impressive SUV, but it's time to consider stepping up. The new 2022 Acura MDX Type S has more power, plus some nice technology updates. So, it might be the right choice for you if you're ready for a new car or want something better than your current ride.

Performance
THE type S engine has a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 500 horsepower.
The 2022 MDX comes standard with the same naturally aspirated 300 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 in the MDX since it launched. It does have a nice feature where speed increases by 25 percent when you're going 22 miles per hour or faster, but it is still a little short of what you can get from the new MDX Type S.
Appearance
The new MDX Type S is more modern than the 2020 model. The grille, headlights, and fog lights are more angular, with sharper lines. They help make it look like the 2022 model is ready to pounce on any of its competitors, like Audi's Q5. The MDX's front end is not bad-looking on the 2022 model.
Features
MDX Type S offers more techs, including ELS Studio 3D surround sound
The MDX has Honda's excellent Sensing package. It includes the following safety tech:
- Automatic emergency braking (forward collision warning)
- Adaptive cruise control (adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow)
- Lane-keeping assist (lane departure warning)
The new MDX Type S has the next generation of Acura ELS Studio 3D surround sound system. It offers twelve speakers for an immersive listening experience not available in most vehicles.
Conclusion
If you want more power and improved performance, the 2022 Acura MDX Type S might be what you're looking for today. It has more features than the model it replaces and a more modern look. Best of all, you can get this new SUV for a little less than the 2020 MDX with similar features.
