2023 Acura MDX vs 2023 Acura RDX

The 2023 Acura MDX is labeled a premium performance SUV by its maker, and that's exactly what it is. The Acura RDX follows closely as a sport crossover design with premium features. The sportiness of the RDX is its most memorable feature, and the MDX focuses on sheer premium design and raw power.

Performance

Performance is the biggest difference between these two SUVs. The MDX's 3.5L V6 engine starts with 290 horsepower, and its most powerful engine is a 355 horsepower 3.0L turbocharged V6 available for the Type S. In contrast, the RDX runs with a 2.0L VTEC Turbo engine rated at 272 horsepower. The MDX offers greater base model horsepower and more total horsepower available. However, 272 horsepower is very attractive to people, too, and many don't need more horsepower than the RDX offers.

Appearance

Both the MDX and RDX get Acura's aggressive, focused styling and LED lighting. Jewel Eye LED headlamps are one of the most appealing things about Acura models. They have many things in common as highly sculpted SUVs and ones that showcase premium design. Their premium paints include exclusive colors like Tiger Eye Pearl and Apex Blue Pearl. However, they have their own distinct wheels and accents. For example, the MDX features a 3D light blade from its Chicane taillamps, and the RDX has Dragon Tail taillights. The MDX is also available in Type S styling.

Features

The interior of both models vastly differ. That's to be expected from two Acura models carving out their own legend in the industry. An MDX model comes with a 12.3-inch HD center touchscreen display. The RDX gets a 10.2-inch HD display. Which screen works better depends on what you want from your next SUV. Some folks like the bigger screen; others prefer something smaller and more personalized. The MDX's full-grain leather options are tempting to many buyers, but the RDX has other stylings to offer in its A-Spec line that are irresistible to other buyers. The RDX's full-grain premium Milano leather seating is some of the most comfortable in the industry.
