2024 Acura MDX Base vs 2024 Acura Advance Package
When it comes to three-row SUVs, they don't make them any more reliable than the 2024 Acura MDX. Its standard 290-horsepower performance, leatherette-trimmed interior, and leather-wrapped steering wheel are all just for starters. Later trims like the Advance Package add even more thrilling style and power to the MDX.
Performance
Both the MDX base and the Advance Package come with a 3.5L engine rated at 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. However, the Advance Package adds more standard performance enhancements. For example, Super Handling all-wheel drive is standard on the Advance Package but optional on the base model. There's a significant difference in standard towing capacity as well. The MDX base comes with 3,500 pounds of towing capacity standard. The Advance Package delivers 5,000 pounds of towing capacity. For extra stability, both trims get front and rear stabilizer bars.
Appearance
Acura's sense of style and luxury shines through on the base model and the Advance Package. They each get a panoramic moonroof, Jewel Eye LED headlamps, and heated side mirrors. Acura's Advance Package is more evolved on extra features, though, and adds a power lift tailgate with hands-free access, LED outer door handle lights, and power-folding functions for side mirrors. For those who prefer larger wheels, the Advance Package comes with 20-inch Premium Silver Split 10-spoke wheels. That's compared to the 19-inch Silver Split 5-spoke wheels that are standard on the MDX base model.
Features
Technology is one area where these two trims differ a lot. MDX base models boast a nice Acura premium audio system with 9 speakers, but the Advance Package offers standard ELS Studio 3D premium audio with 16 speakers. For people who love their music, that's night and day. Advance Package trims will also come with more USB charging ports, a 10.5-inch head-up display, and CabinTalk technology, all three of which are absent from the base model design. You'll find advanced driver-assist tech on the base model, including Traffic Jam Assist, Advanced Pedestrian Detection, and Forward Collision Warning. Advance Package trims also come with these technologies, but more advanced driver-assist technologies like a Surround-View camera system, parking sensors, and a head-up warning are added.
