Specs at a Glance
Acura's luxury SUV lineup is among today's best. Many drivers will choose between the 2025 Acura MDX and the 2025 Acura RDX. While the three-row MDX seats up to seven people, the RDX is perfectly sized for a family of five. Let's take a closer look at how these two popular models compare.
Performance
The MDX comes standard with a brawny V6 engine, which develops 290 horsepower. This is enough muscle for you to tow up to 5,000 pounds. If you really want to get your adrenaline pumping, consider stepping up to the high-performance MDX Type S. Its turbo V6 engine cranks out a thrilling 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive comes standard. However, Acura's famed Super Handling AWD system is offered as an option on the MDX. Aside from promoting exceptional traction, this torque-vectoring AWD system also enhances the vehicle's cornering capabilities.
From a performance standpoint, the RDX is just as impressive. Acura rates its turbocharged four-cylinder engine to produce a solid 272 horsepower. While the RDX's 1,500-pound maximum towing capacity is lower, this SUV does offer enhanced fuel efficiency. In contrast to the MDX, the RDX comes standard with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.
Appearance
Whether you choose the MDX or the RDX, you can look forward to making a grand entrance. Signature styling cues, such as Jewel Eye LED headlights and a Diamond Pentagon front grille, help them to stand out. Both SUVs offer a sporty A-Spec appearance package. Furthermore, a panoramic sunroof comes standard throughout the lineup. Some of the same head-turning exterior colors are offered as well. While the RDX offers optional 20-inch alloy wheels, the MDX can be equipped with 21-inch alloy wheels.
Features
Tech-savvy drivers and luxury enthusiasts will find both of these premium SUVs to be worthy picks. Although the RDX's Acura/ELS Studio 3D premium audio system is destined to excite most music fans, the MDX's optional 31-speaker Bang and Olufsen Ultra Sound system is even more stunning. Like the MDX, the RDX boasts standard heated front seats and optional ventilated front seats. Other available features include a head-up display, a hands-free tailgate, and GPS-linked climate control. An AcuraWatch suite of advanced safety features is also found on both models.
