OEM parts are the only part offered by dealerships and have a number of benefits compared to aftermarket parts. Factory OEM parts are the same parts installed on your vehicle when it was built by the manufacturer. That means you can expect the same performance and quality once a repair has been completed. Genuine Acura parts, when installed by an Acura dealership, are covered with a limited warranty for 1 year or 12,000 miles. Warranted parts purchased from an Acura dealer by installed by someone else are covered for 1 year from the date of purchase. That means that Acura will repair or replace any part covered by this warranty that is defective in material or workmanship under normal use. If the part was originally installed by an Acura dealer, the repair or replacement will be done with no charge for parts or labor. If the part was originally installed by someone else, the cost of the replacement or repair is covered by Acura, but you must pay all installation costs.

Aftermarket parts are designed to look and operate like OEM parts but they are made by different manufacturers. They differ from OEM parts in key areas including pricing, quality, fit and availability. Many aftermarket parts are less expensive than OEM but the quality can impact the performance of your vehicle and can void warranties on your Acura. A part that doesn't fit correctly in your car can strain the surrounding components, as it can force them to work harder for an incorrectly working part. Furthermore, a part that doesn't fit right can be loose or fall off, which jeopardizes your car's health and causes safety concerns.
